Breeding Advice? Starfall

Post by Rochelle Bos »

This frustratingly beautiful girl has produced 3 freaks,2 stakes, and 2 productive…but only 1 six figure earner. I love her to bits but she drives me bananas.

(It’s actually kinda funny because I bred her dam’s flashiest filly, Cleo has bred her flashiest, and my filly from Cleo’s filly was also a freak. Maybe this line only likes to make nice babies for leasees 🤪)

Anyway, thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m sure I’ll stumble upon some more I may ask for advice on as I slowly go through my mares

I like Mace as a cross with A Million Dreams. I have this stakes filly from a A Millions Dreams freak blue hen mare (not nearly as good as a runner as yours was) Midnight Whisper

Just thought I’d share a cross what “worked” for me and DMB is the sire of Some Devil…so going to a son of DMB may pay off…good luck!

I’ll plan her next two seasons for you ;)
Send her to Napoleon for a full sister to Well Met this year since Napoleon is 14.
Then, send her to Mace next year. I love Mace, he is classy as heck.

I agree with Lily…Napoleon was my first thought but then saw there was already a foal from him..if you don’t mind doubling up then I’d do what Lily recommends…but I sometimes shy away from breeding a mare to the same sire twice if I want the same gender already sired, I’m more likely to double up if I wanted a colt/filly combo.. For what it’s worth, the A Million Dreams mare I mentioned above has a 2 year old stakes filly from Napoleon.
