Layaway program update

Post by Kelly Haggerty »

We still have more slots available for this year. To recap, you lease a hen or star to me for $0, and I do some research, breed the mare, and offer to sell the resulting foal back to you for the stud fee. You have until after BT Wk4 of next year to buy the foal back. If you reject it before then, or fail to buy it back by the end of Wk4, I send you the equivalent amount of money as a "mare lease" and keep the foal for myself. So if the stud fee was 50k, you either buy the foal for 50k, or I lease the mare for 50k. I get the breeders fees as the foal races, and you get to be off the hook for deciding what to do with that mare that drives you nuts.

This year our first babies turned 4. Shoutout to some of our stakes performers:

Also, I will be retiring a couple of new stallions this year. These are multi-surface/multi-distance types with RL bloodlines, so good for outcrossing. I won't have the right mares to fully support these guys, so I will have a special offer for hens and stars, but that will be separate from the layaway program. I never use my own stallions on a layaway mare, just to keep things clean and simple.
