Steward Cup Y66 Venue Change

Post by Entry Clerk »

It was pointed out to me that the Steward's Cup races were set to be held at the Spa for the second year running so we have changed the venue to Toronto.

And will you change the Gelding World Cup races or let them continue at the Spa?

It is now being pointed out to you that this a last minute change. I already have a number of horses that at are stabled at Oakbrook Farm for the SC. I suspect others have potential SC entries already stabled near The Spa. So I would like to log a formal protest on this last minute change.

Are you also going to also do a last minute venue change for the AW SC races? Last year's SC AW races were held at Artificial Arena. This year's SC AW races are scheduled for Artificial Arena.

The AW races are always at Artificial Arena.
And to be fair, Toronto and New York aren't that far apart - it's actually a relatively fair change, if they're going to make one.

A few weeks ago, there was a thread about the nearest Farm to the SC. Cleo did an excellent job of explaining how she easily determined (using a really neat trick) that the nearest farm to this year's TB SC is Oakbrook Farm - New York. If you ship from this farm to Toronto Racecourse, it is: 289 miles - 7.4 hours to ship by 1st class van.

Note to Cleo: thank you for sharing your really neat trick!

The amazing part is that the SIM has so many cool little features built in that people miss them! I wish I knew how to produce videos cause I would make a series of neat trick guides if I could.

Also I think this move of venue was a little bit late BUT I'm also fairly certain (Steward or Entry Clerk might be able to confirm) but I think there is very little tiredness penalty for ships under 500 miles. The sort options for travel on the Find race for this Horse page were chosen for a reason. So under 50 miles is, for example, a 1 day rest to return to no tiredness while 500 is 2 days and 500-5000 is 3 days and then 5000 is 4+ days. I'm not 100% certain how it works, especially factoring first class shipping and companion animals but I think that might be the general gist.

I thought first class shipping makes shipping have no ill effect. Could be wrong

From the help section:
Pamper your horses with First Class Shipping. Your horses will arrive relaxed and rested. Your horses will travel in luxury with a groom attending to their every whim. Sugar cubes, apples, brushing and more. All this extra comfort and care makes the time to ship to locations longer than economy shipping, but your horse arrives to its destination without any additional tiredness from travel - it actually rests during the trip!. All this luxury for only 30 cents per mile.* First Class Shipping is available to Junior players and above as a setting and affects all of your shipping. You can enable and disable it at any time. Auto Shipping will automatically adjust when to ship your horses if you have First Class Shipping enabled.

* = Minimum shipping charge for First Class Shipping is $200. First Class Shipping is about 30% slower than economy. First Class Shipping does not wipe out tiredness from racing and workouts, but it does not add any additional fatigue.

Let's just adjust and roll. Maybe there was a predicted # of tornado, hurricanes, and floods predicted for NY that week so there was an emergency change of venue.. Kinda like what happened to Tiz The Law's triple crown aspirations due to Covid.
