Should I retire or race my mare
https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1655508
She’s still freak peak but she’s also a breeding shed… what would some of you all do retire now or continue racing … I was leaning to racing after heavily leaning to retiring a few weeks ago.
My first TM SC winner Ive had since the mare Valued… this mare has been such a huge blessing to my stable and fun to race. But I’ll also can’t wait to see what foals she gives when it’s the right time … is that now or next year?
Look forward to reading all your thoughts see if you can sway me into being solid firm in which way I go.

I’d keep racing if she’s still a freak. She’s fun!
And you never know whether they will really hit the mark in the shed, even when they tick all the boxes. It took years and a lot of threats to pension her before State of the Art decided to spit out a decent foal for me. So even nice mares will make you want to stab them at times.

I would run her if she was mine! She's still a freak and 'only' four.

It depends on your goals but I would probably let her have a 5yo season.

I'm with Andrew. No, sorry, tempting to retire, but all arguments above are good, I really don’t know what I would do! Just wanted to say she is absolutely great.

Race your females to 4 and colts to 5

Best days are behind her. I'd retire her. She's been trending that way.

Re: Should I retire or race my mare
It can be tempting to keep a Freak mare in training, but the fact of the matter is, she’s not the horse she was at 2 or 3. If she were in my barn, she would be retiring for sure. One win this year, and it was in a listed stakes that was as close to a sure thing as you can get in the SIM. She’s a Steward’s Cup winner, she’s a millionaire, she’s got the comment we all want our mares to have, and she has sneaky upside on her dam side being a cousin to Kelpie Fable. Yes, she could earn you some nice checks next year, but she could also throw you a really nice baby this year.

My thought is retire and start making new little freaks. Like Lily said, she's got a great resume...what more are you hoping to get from her on the track?
