TBS Select Auction - How Did Everyone Do?

Post by Laura Ferguson »

I really waffled among a few horses, but all my homebred yearling freaks are dirt route/sprint, so I made that the tie-break. Ended up going for the Rocket to the Moon filly (turf route), who galloped freak.

That said, I really liked the Warder filly, the Rock N Roll filly and the Lightsong colt. If my gallops had turned out different, I probably would have gone for one of those.

Thrilled to get the Whoomp there it is filly on an underbid and she is a freak. The Rock n Roll was my first choice - a lot of my breeding in there - but LOVE the dam of the one I got.
"I was afraid of Gigi, it was true." Oh yes. Be afraid. Be very afraid...
"Gigi, you continue to impress the heck out of me." - The Steward. Okay, it was 10 RL years ago, but I'm keeping it.

I have been drooling over the Warder x Less filly since she was born, and having missed out on three other fillies out of the mare, I wasn't going to let this one get away.
She galloped Freak and is Brave.

Got a freak, Doom and Gloom and went after him since it was out of my sire but really liked the lavender haze and spooky horses, those were the other two I would’ve gone after.

Happy to get a Freak Dirt Sprinter since I've never had one. Hope she is every bid as good as her grandmother, Hartley, Gigi's Steward Cup Champ. Tried to come up with an imaginative name out of Vigilante Stuff by Turn the Tables. I feel like I should have done better.

Nice! her older half sister I bred is a stakes late bloomer, so that mare is looking great.

In the select sale, I ran away with Doo Doo so to speak. Ha!
Quixotic is a Stakes - Peak - Unsound - Timid filly so naturally I named the filly Quixotic: "Caught up in the romance of noble deeds and the pursuit of unreachable goals; idealistic without regard to practicality. Capricious; impulsive.
Like Don Quixote; romantic to extravagance; prone to pursue unrealizable goals; absurdly chivalric; apt to be deluded."
Quick question: can one breed a yearling? Triple Ha!

Congratulations to all of y'all's freaks!

That dam line has been SO good to me. I hope that if nothing else, she ends up being a fantastic broodmare for you!

I just got the Oaks colt on a Pinhook. He was actually my second choice in the auction, so I’m thrilled to have him. I had to pay the additional Steward Bred slot fee to get him, but it was worth it. He’s a Freak!

This female line is one I’ve drooled over for sometime! So I get a freak filly at the very edge of my budget!

Now I am broke and extremely happy!
