Mr. Lord Rich wrote: 2 weeks ago There is a new section that starts off “ At the risk of one greedy person grabbing all, here are some horses with more to give, available from Alexandra Jaysman for $5000.”

These horses are all gobbled up within hours if not minutes of the edge release which means if you are not sitting idle waiting for the next edition, you will always miss out.
Being that these horses are only 5k it is a no brainer especially when someone with special abilities of the entry clerk to see what we can’t see is pointing them out.

How about the entry clerk holds a weekly public auction for these horses to new or junior players? The horses can be pulled from AJ and place in a weekly auction allowing a fair shot to the newer players to get something that might be a potential stepping stone for future success.
I would love to see the Entry Clerk do something like this and it's a feature I already requested from him - for him to use his power to see the numbers on horses and rescue decent horses from AJ to sell or auction to newbies (newbies being New/Junior/Intermediate players).

Vincent could also try his hand at breeding foals for newer players. His breeding auction which resulted in (I think) a bunch of allowance gallops didn't seem particularly successful with the top players who wanted more Stewie-grade horses, but could be very valuable for newbies. A decent allowance or "sad" stakes gallop can still be a great broodmare for a newbie but isn't likely to attract the frenzied bidding of a Stewie auction.

I have asked for all players in the sim to have the ability to put up auctions that are restricted to newbies that cost significantly fewer Game Points (around 2000 or 3000 GP instead of 12000 GP to list unlimited horses with galllop and BSA info). Newbies don't have deep pockets to spend and there's a certain (entirely justified) reluctance for the community to spend $12 listing horses that will bring in $2 worth of bids.

I have also asked for options to discount studs fees for newbies, and a wiki (which would benefit everyone in the community). I have so many ideas to improve the first two years of play in the sim to try to retain more players but getting answers from Vincent is tricky. I'm only one person. Maybe if there's a community thread (either this one or another one) where we hash out all kinds of proposed changes for newbies, it would have more impact.

As for the horses that were gobbled up in this Edge, I landed one - a TS broodmare named Bar Hygge. She will be directly benefiting a struggling player. I'm in my fourth or fifth season of mentoring other players. I provide free leases of racing fillies and broodmares and I give advice where it's both wanted and would be helpful. I just picked up my sixth active mentee a couple days ago. So she will either be leased out to one of my mentees to breed, or I'll breed her and lease her daughters out.

Having the Entry Clerk pick out horses from Alexandra Jaysman for resale would take all the fun and use out of combing through them ourselves.

I spent a lot of time and effort searching through those horses in my newbie days, but if all the better horses are picked up immediately the motivation for a new player to do the same would be lacking.

Farms become available at reduced prices in auto dispersals… picking up an AJ horse is low priority regulation… id still rather have entries by trainer available… so one could get claimers from seemingly stat driven trainers getting overly aggressive.
This suggestion does not belong in this thread, but “Two Small Things” thread, in my opinion. This discussion is about SIMperior Edge content, not new additions to the game.
What if i add… (In the edge) it would be cool if we had a list of entries by trainers in claimers of at least “noteable,” horses?
Or a “look at week 4 claimers” section.

Ronnie Dee wrote: 2 weeks ago I thought that the Entry Clerk was just having some fun. He writes about some good (but not great) horses. It takes him very little effort to post these horses for sale. Then he makes some lucky players day better with nice treats.

This is similar to another common occurrence. A player quietly posts $1 unraced Allowance TBs for sale. It takes the player very little effort to put these horses up for sale. Then some observant players receive nice treats.

In both cases, I think the key element is fun rather than competition.
This is a little different than a random player posting allowance horses for $1.
This is the entry clerk with special powers to see what the common player can't see and then pointing out horses that still might have some use in the game. Just thought this would be a nice opportunity for newish players versus vets just being quick on the clicky button
I understand your point. My concern is that the Entry Clerk might get discouraged. He seems to be really trying hard to make the Sim "funner".

I agree with Maria. I loved going through AJ as a newbie, and still do it often now, and have found it highly rewarding. Although I do like the "scrap heap" horses, I would love to see them gathered up in the final 48 hours or so of the SIM year, then thrown into an auction or some other way of dispersing them (the "claimer" idea is interesting). This way we get to comb through them ourselves during the SIM year, but when it's clear that they are going to be missed out on they can be saved and brought back into the game.

Well, I am happy to lease out these mares for free to players, if asked nicely :)
Edit: Or better yet, If you are a Advanced player or below, send me a message in game and request the mare you wish to lease for free for a season, breed the mare, and I will pay/refund them the stud fee to whatever stallion they choose ;)

Don't think picking up the mares so you can gate keep them is in spirit of what the Entry Clerk had in mind here, I think it's fun what he's doing but imagine that people being grabby is going to end it pretty quickly.

Or the Entry Clerk could just say 1 per person is a rule and confiscate mares from the greedy grabbers who buy multiple.

It's all up to the Entry Clerk now to decide.

Don’t think it’s in the spirit of the game to grab them all if you’re the first to discover it, but if it’s technically allowed I can’t blame someone for trying to get ahead.
