I would love to see the Entry Clerk do something like this and it's a feature I already requested from him - for him to use his power to see the numbers on horses and rescue decent horses from AJ to sell or auction to newbies (newbies being New/Junior/Intermediate players).Mr. Lord Rich wrote: ↑2 weeks ago There is a new section that starts off “ At the risk of one greedy person grabbing all, here are some horses with more to give, available from Alexandra Jaysman for $5000.”
These horses are all gobbled up within hours if not minutes of the edge release which means if you are not sitting idle waiting for the next edition, you will always miss out.
Being that these horses are only 5k it is a no brainer especially when someone with special abilities of the entry clerk to see what we can’t see is pointing them out.
How about the entry clerk holds a weekly public auction for these horses to new or junior players? The horses can be pulled from AJ and place in a weekly auction allowing a fair shot to the newer players to get something that might be a potential stepping stone for future success.
Vincent could also try his hand at breeding foals for newer players. His breeding auction which resulted in (I think) a bunch of allowance gallops didn't seem particularly successful with the top players who wanted more Stewie-grade horses, but could be very valuable for newbies. A decent allowance or "sad" stakes gallop can still be a great broodmare for a newbie but isn't likely to attract the frenzied bidding of a Stewie auction.
I have asked for all players in the sim to have the ability to put up auctions that are restricted to newbies that cost significantly fewer Game Points (around 2000 or 3000 GP instead of 12000 GP to list unlimited horses with galllop and BSA info). Newbies don't have deep pockets to spend and there's a certain (entirely justified) reluctance for the community to spend $12 listing horses that will bring in $2 worth of bids.
I have also asked for options to discount studs fees for newbies, and a wiki (which would benefit everyone in the community). I have so many ideas to improve the first two years of play in the sim to try to retain more players but getting answers from Vincent is tricky. I'm only one person. Maybe if there's a community thread (either this one or another one) where we hash out all kinds of proposed changes for newbies, it would have more impact.
As for the horses that were gobbled up in this Edge, I landed one - a TS broodmare named Bar Hygge. She will be directly benefiting a struggling player. I'm in my fourth or fifth season of mentoring other players. I provide free leases of racing fillies and broodmares and I give advice where it's both wanted and would be helpful. I just picked up my sixth active mentee a couple days ago. So she will either be leased out to one of my mentees to breed, or I'll breed her and lease her daughters out.
