Results are in. Sorry it took so long, one of the judges was really busy. There were a number of ties (due, I think, to the high quality of submissions) so prize categories were enlarged as noted below.

Note: The order of names inside each category means nothing and is only due to the way I listed the haikus to the judges (roughly in reverse order of posting).

Points are on the way! Remember, you will get your points with a use attached (CAH, 2 “1 week of SIMperior”, or 1 “1 week of SIMperior”). Ignore that. The game points should be in your account, you do whatever you want with them. Let me know if you don't receive your GP within the next day.

GREAT JOB, EVERYBODY!

Hope you are ready for another Haiku contest. Everyone is welcome to enter. Lots of Game Points to be won plus fame and glory -- so give it a try even if you've never written a poem before.

You need only to rev up your creativity at bit and write an original Haiku poem about the SIM and/or about horse racing in general.

There will be two general categories – humorous (intended to make the reader chuckle if not LOL) and non-humorous (everything else). People submitting MUST specify a category,.

Prizes in each category (at a minimum -- any ties will be broken by increasing the number of prizes):
2 judged best in each category will receive 3,000 game points each
3 judged next best will receive 2,000 game points each
4 next will receive 1,000 game points each

Judges are completely independent of the SIM, they have no contact with it and will not see anything but the final submissions and any comments I add to explain horse racing or the SIM.

Haiku: 300-year old Haiku Poem is a unique verse style. Google it if you would like more info.

There are variations, but for this contest the following rules apply: Each poem has only three lines, that must total 17 syllables:
- the first line MUST be five syllables
- the second line MUST be seven syllables
- the third line MUST be five syllables

<a href='http://www.simhorseracing.com/featurera ... cleID=2064' target='_blank'>Here are the winners of the last contest</a> for examples and maybe inspiration.

NOTE: The judges enjoyed the last contest and all were happy to go again. However, a new rule: IF YOUR HAIKU DOES NOT MEET THE SYLLABLE REQUIREMENTS, IT WILL BE TOSSED OUT AND NOT ENTERED INTO THE CONTEST. They just found it extremely difficult to balance problems with the technical form versus how well they liked the words.

You can only enter one haiku into the contest, however, you may post as many times as you wish; the last Haiku you post before the contest closes will be the one actually entered into the contest.

Again, I want to emphasize that the judges will not see anything but the final entries. Any comments welcome. Heck, if you have a number of haikus and are not sure which to enter, think about starting your own poll – or ask for opinions in this thread.

I guess nobody wants to be first? I want to see some entries!

So -- I hereby offer 1,000 GPs each to the first three technically correct entries posted (that is they must follow the 5/7/5 syllable pattern).

This is a reward for bravery, independent of contest winnings. And remember you can always actually enter a new haiku simply by posting again.

Ramey,

Again, looks good technically. Plus, these are two very nice haikus to start to contest off.

We need a third.

I'm not that creative, but, I'm going to miss my first quality racing mare, <a href='http://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.php?HorseID=44340' target='_blank'>Grassy Knoll</a>

She's tough to retire
She was great on the racetrack
Is she a good mare?

Speed contest over. Game points have been sent. Great entries, everyone! I do love to read these haikus.

Now that the ice is broken, everyone get in there and go for the contest win.

Still lots of time, but remember that you can only finally enter one haiku -- whether humorous or non-humorous. The last haiku you post will be the one that is entered. And for that final contest entry, you must specify whether it should go into the humorous or non humorous category. I will not decide. If you cannot decide, ask for advice.

SIM Bank

I should probably note for anyone who has not yet received GP's through the SIM Bank: the bank gives you a limited number of choices. When I send out 1,000 GPs to anyone, they receive a message saying "Jeb Clampett has given you 1 week of SIMperior". IGNORE THAT! All that matters is that your GPs have gone up by 1,000. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SPEND THEM ON 1 WEEK OF SIMPERIOR. Do whatever you want with them -- spend them on whatever, save them or give them away -- it's all good.

I would love to give this another go, but haha, I need some time to work on my creative juices. :P. I usually work in Japanese first and then translate it into English that's why. So, I'll probably have this in by the last day. Eep. Hopefully I'll make it.
