I love the Croc Hunter. The guy was a pro and a good steward of the environment. Beyond that, he seemed like a genuinely good guy. A stingray barb to the heart...Jesus.

What a freak accident - if he'd been stung anywhere else, he'd have been ok. Poor guy. I absolutely loved his show, and with his enthusiasm, how could you not?

I am totally bummed out about this.....man I can recall watching his shows late into the night at times....very very sad :( I guess the good part is that he went out doing what he loved doing.

I'm extremely upset by this. Steve was my hero. I even have a backpack with his likeness on it and did a Intro to Business Management presentation as the ... uhh.. can't remember what I was hunting, but I mimiced him to a T and had the whole class laughing.
Steve's most commonly uttered line was, "It's ok. He was only reacting to what I did. An animal never bites because of something he did. It's all because of something we did, and we have to remember that."

That really was a freak accident, man. Experts say there've only been 3-17 deaths contributed to stingrays, and he gets zapped in the heart, pulls it out (UGH), and dies in the water, all on camera. I mean, crap, I've gone snorkeling in the wild with them, and I was under the impression they were peaceful and fairly harmless. At least that's what the guy on the little boat said.

All I gotta say is..."crikey."

I'm so sad over this. I grew up watching his shows and I can't imagine the Discovery Channel without him...

Wishing his wife and kids the best. I can't imagine what they're feeling.

He always said to his crew to keep the cameras rolling at all times because he would be truely upset if he died and no one caught it on film...

at least, that's what IMDB says...

I was going to visit him at the zoo one day, too
