so how does distance figure in with the mixed breeds, esp those that run short.
For example, my horse Zimm's Hollyday, a 2yo appy filly won at 300 yards first out in week 2. Now the only race I have for her to enter is a 400 yard stakes week 6 at the other track (shes in the Dakotas, this race is in New Mexico).
How specialized are these horses? an extra hundred yards seems like a lot when the distance is so short to begin with. Should I take the chance to ship her a couple hours to the other track to enter her in a race that may be too long? Should I just work her and wait for something to pop up at her distance?
I know we don't know all the answers yet, but maybe this could start some discussion on the topic.
What are you doing with your horses?

Re: distances
In real life lots of horses are distance specialists but can still win going a little shorter or a little longer. Like lots of RL horses go 350, 400 and 440 interchangeably. You don't see many hook horses shortening up though. In the SIM i don't know how much it will matter.

Yes one that runs around the turn. 870 or longer normally.
