Freshman Stallion: Quinny

Original article written by Cheri Stewart posted 6 months 0 weeks ago

I'm a bit of a bloodline nerd. I plaid the SIM probably 10 years ago, life got busy, and I totally forgot all the bloodline information that I'd stored up in my brain. Now, I'm re-learning quite a bit! But, as I go through and look at these horses, I thought it would be fun to cover the freshmen stallions that have hit the book this year. I'm going to probably do quite a bit of these, and I'm no bloodstock agent, but I hope to be informative, and it never hurts to get some names out there that we may not think of right off the bat when looking for the next stud for our star mares (and... I'm quite broke)
I'm going to start with Quinny because, at the time of this article, he's the freshman sire with the highest earnings. He's got a $25,000 stud fee and has 48 foals on the ground right now. He's the y64 Winner of the Saudi Dirt Mile, Grade 3 Versa Stakes, Grade 1 El Rival Decade Stakes, and runner-up to Swordsman in the year 64 Steward's Cup Dirt Mile by a nose. He's got a racing record of 19 starts, 7 wins, 4 places, and 2 shows. Let's take a peek at his pedigree...
His sire (Twelve Days of Christmas) is also still at stud with a fee of $37,500 and progeny earnings (currently) of $14,719,830... That's pretty significant! He's also the Y58 Champion Older Male, Y57 South American Champion 3-year-old Male, and just a downright great dirt horse.
Quinny's dam, Worldenoughandtime (by Allonsy, and out of Goodbye II, by Windseeker) is an INSANE broodmare. With only 14 foals, 13 of them racers, she's racked up a progeny earning of nearly $20 MILLION. A stakes winner in her own right, she raced 17 times total in her career, running quite well in Graded Stakes company, and obviously produced stellar offspring, Quinny included.
He definitely has the pedigree for throwing some very nice dirt mile or route horses (I say mile/route because it seems he stuck to a mile to a mile and an eighth as his best distances. Any higher than that seemed to be a struggle) As a winner of over $2,000,000 himself, and with such a beautiful pedigree, I bet that he'll do very well as a stud! I look forward to keeping an eye on him for my future mares as well.
