Steward's Cup Bunburette; a look at the horses

Original article written by Stina Vica posted 6 weeks 1 day ago

The Stewards Cup is a few days away, or should I say hours away, and the two-year-old races will soon be filled and ready. Probably by the time the article comes out the entries will be closed. And yet in this article I would like to take a look at the Turf Router fillies, those fillies that are entered until now.. or those who don't but have a chance to win. I also have my own opinion in the article and of course I don't know at this point what the final field and post position will look like. anyway, let's get started.
I can't say if the field will change much but I don't think the whole field will change much one day before the deadline.

So, Arima Kinen, the filly with the most points so far. won three out of three races and won $112,500 in those races. Carole Hanson is the proud breeder and owner. She is undefeated so far and has the most points - I expect her to be one of the favorites in the stewards cup.
Of course she is the stakes winner and she has also run over the length which is also the SC, so she can run the length. Her best speed figure so far is 95, not the highest in the field - but I don't think that always matters.
Sylvia is also registered. Brian Leavitt is breeder and owner. She is also unbeaten so far with 2 wins and a best speed figure of 94 so far. For Brian Leavitt definitely the favorite in the race - but i think also for others. A Light in the Dark belongs to Carolyn Eaton and is unbeaten with 2 wins and a BSF of 95. There is also Wild Ships from Nicole Marie. Also unbeaten with 2 wins and a BSF of 94. Glaring belongs to Royal Celestine and was bred by the steward. She was bought for $3,123,456 at the auction! She is just as unbeaten and has a BSF of 94 so far.

These were all the unbeaten ones so far. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but unbeaten makes a great impression. Relove is not unbeaten, but I think she makes a great impression. The race in which she was beaten was won by a horse with BSF 98 and Relove came second - I think that can be forgiven. The chestnut filly has a BSF of 92 so far. the breeder and owner is Julia H.
You should also keep an eye on Technicolour Blues. She has won two out of 3 races with a BSF of 94. Julin Sara is the owner and breeder.

Forever Evil, Praise the Sun and Magnificent Impact are the Fillies with the lowest best speed figure - doesn't necessarily mean anything, but I think there is still a difference to the others.

Spensa Nightshade belongs to Andrew James and he is also the breeder of the Filly. She has run twice, could win once - with a speed figure of 93. The race she couldn't win and finished second she lost to Sylvia.

Stargaze was bred by Durzo Blint and she is going to race him. With a speed figure of 93 and having won 2 out of 3 races she goes into the race. The one race in which she finished 3rd she lost to Technicolour Blues.

The best at the end? Set My World On Fire is unimpressive - she won one out of two races. She lost against two horses that are not in the race. But why do I say the best at the end - because she has a best speed figure of 98! That's the highest in the whole field. Tim Matthews is breeder and owner.

Who knows what's going to happen, but so far 14 out of 16 possible horses have registered for the "Steward's Cup Bunburette." 2 year olds. Fillies. Stakes. Purse $1,000,000!

Now let's get to the horses, where I'm wondering why they weren't registered in the SC. On the one hand we have Run Swift. Keith Place is breeder and owner. Run Swift has a BSF of 98 and is undefeated with 3 wins! Transfixed and Bredhil would definitely have a chance too - they owners probably want to be on the safe side.

I'm excited to see what will happen! See you at the Stewards Cup!!
