Original article written by Joe Shaw posted 2 weeks 4 days agoWeek 2 is upon us, and I hope it is as good as week 1 was to me. So, let's go over what is coming up for week 2.
Week 2 day 1, I have 5 horses running today. All 5 horses running on this day are all first-time runners and all running in maiden special weight races. The first horse is named Complex Breed. He is making his first start as a three-year-old in a maiden special weight race going one mile on the all-weather at Artificial Arena. There is a big field of 11 in this race. He made his first start with jockey Abbey Cochran aboard. Jockey Joe Novak is riding my second horse in this race Purchased a Dog. I don't have a big expectation for this horse considering he is a first-time starter. I hope he finishes well and shows something for his first start. If not, I won't complain about it. This race is more like an experience race for this horse. The second horse I have been running is named Purchased a dog. He is also making his first time starting as a three-year-old. Same race and same maiden race for this horse. I expect about the same result as Complex Breed. I don't expect any big performances. The third horse is named Complexity Dog. She is a three-year-old filly going one mile in a maiden race at Artificial Arena. Joe Novak is the jockey for this horse and is a field of 7 running. The fourth horse running is named The Strange World. Also, a first-time starter going one mile on the all-weather at Sunday Park. The rider is Abbey Cochran and is in a field of 7 horses. The fifth horse is vintage cleats. Also, a maiden race and a field of 7 with Joe Novak aboard.
Week 2 day 2, I have 1 horse running this day. The horse's name is fifteen wishes. He is running in a claiming race going 1 mile on the turf at Last resort park. Small field of 3 with Joe Novak aboard. He is a maiden and is making his first start under me. Finished 5th in a maiden race to end his campaign last season. He has made 4 starts with two 2nd place finishes and 1 third. I hope the drop-in class helps this horse get his maiden broken and his first win.
Week 2 day 4, I have 3 horses running. The first one is Duenger. This horse is making his 2nd start. It is a maiden race with a field of 7. Joe Novak is going to ride this horse. The 2nd horse is named Happiness is pink. First time owner of this horse. The horse finished 2nd in a NW4 lifetime race at the end of last season. It is a field of 9 horses with Joe Novak riding. The third horse is named Swingalong. First time owner of this horse. Finished 2nd in a claiming 35,000 last time out. Big class drop for this horse. Down to 8,500 claiming. It is a field of 9 with Joe Novak riding.
Week 2 day 5, I have two horses running. The first one is Coastal Chemistry. Horse is a first-time starter going 1 mile on the dirt in a maiden race. Field of 7 and joe Novak is aboard. The second horse is Distract us. The horse is making his eighth start in a maiden race going 5 furlongs on the turf course. Has two seconds and two thirds in 7 starts. I am hoping for a good week.
