Boise Wins the Preakness Stakes

Original article written by The Steward posted 17 years 0 weeks ago

Three-year-old Boise won the Preakness Stakes by a length over Kentucky Derby winner Del Mar last weekend. The son of Loki Dynasty was the third choice in the wagering behind Del Mar and I Said Don't Do It, but proved best at the wire. The Jon Xett trainee made it 3 wins in 8 starts with the victory, pushing his career earnings to $684,550.

It was Jon Xett's second Preakness win, following that of Triple Crown winner Tremendous in Year 8. Boise was considered a threat to Del Mar's Triple Crown bid because he did not run in the Derby, instead, Boise ran in the Illinois Derby (and won) before taking it easy up to the Preakness. It is unknown where he will surface next.

Boise is out of the Sunday Silence mare Prevail, a daughter of Pike Place Dancer. She has a two year old by Herkemayah who is unplaced in two sprint starts.
