Getting Rich in SIM - An Introduction

Original article written by Regina Moore posted 12 years 0 weeks ago

It seems like such a vicious cycle. You’re trying to enjoy SIM with an inadequate amount of money in your bank. In order to get more money, you need a nice stakes horse. But to buy a nice stakes horse – or a youngster with strong potential to be a nice stakes horse – you need money. So, you’re stuck, because you have neither the money to buy a nice horse, nor a nice horse to earn you lots of money.

I’m here to tell you that there’s a way out of this financial dilemma. You can make millions of dollars without a top quality horse. I know this for a fact, because I’ve done it. At the end of Year 30, I had over $11 million in my bank. That, after I had spent over $9 million acquiring new horses in Year 29. You might be thinking, “That’s nice, but what has got that got to do with me? I’ve never had over $200,000 in my bank. I just don’t have good horses, like you do.”

I’ve been in SIM seven full game years, playing all breeds and all types of Thoroughbreds. What might be surprising is that I’ve never had a single horse earn as much as $700,000 under my ownership. I’ve only campaigned five horses that have earned over half a million in my colors. And yet, I’ve had many millions in my bank account since my first few SIM years.

Getting rich with merely average and above average horses is possible because the vast, vast majority of SIM horses are capable of being profitable – in other words, earning more than their expenses (board, shipping, etc). This is even more true in Year 31 than before, because there were two new tracks introduced in Alaska for Thoroughbreds, and an additional mixed breed track in Wisconsin. All three of these tracks are for the sole purpose of offering more claiming races, some for prices as low as $500. The bottom line effect is that ordinary horses have more opportunities than ever to earn purse money.

This series of articles is going to offer some strategies on how to build up your bank balance in SIM when you don’t have stellar horses.
