Fans were out in force at Ruidoso Raceway, where they braved the New Mexico sun to watch twelve Steward's Cup Appaloosa races contested on a blazing fast track. With trophies at stake in the biggest races of the year, trainers and jockeys were on their toes ensuring their horses were kept comfortable and relaxed before trotting out for post time. Here is a look at how the races played out.

300 YARDS

Mike Larson's Luvinlagertoomuch won the $400,000 G1 Steward's Cup Appaloosa Dash for 2y/o colts and geldings in 17.21. Natural Habitat, owned by Jon Snyder, was second, followed by Sten Rino Haakonsen's Noorway. Rounding out the field of fourteen were Fontenot (Louise Bayou), Digirishchicks (Mike Larason), Bet the Brew (Lori Hamill), Kaibab (Laura Ferguson), Not a Gentleman (Bob Green), Catch If You Can (April Eddy), Bruno (Sten Rino Haakonsen), Fuddy Duddy (April Eddy), Hear No Evil (Anna Leroux), Damson Gin (Anna Leroux), and Black Tomar (Clinton Graves).

In the $400,000 G1 Steward's Cup Appaloosa Fillies Dash for 2y/o fillies, Jennifer Francis's Irish Annie broke fast to win in 17.09. Cloveresque, owned by Mike Larson, was second. Ramey Furney's A Good Splash was third. Toltec (Meghan Mandi), Oh My Goggles (Michael Looker), Buy Me An Irish (Glenn Larson), Oui Risque (Mike Larson), Sadie's Domino (J K Rowling), Zimm's Bright Echo (Kyasuriin Matsumoto), Quick Tybee (Glenn Larson), Blackgoggles (Clinton Graves), The Lazy Song (Marrisa Frank), Getyourtickets (Mike Larson), and Drinking Hole (Izzy Rafferty) completed the field of fourteen.

Alex Puderbaugh's Black Licorice was the champion in the $400,000 G1 Steward's Cup Appaloosa Sprint for 3y/os+, finishing in 17.91. Let It Ride, owned by Louise Bayou, took second. Kyasuriin Matsumoto's American Draft was third. Been On the House (Sten Rino Haakonsen), Awkward (Louise Bayou), Quills and Wine (Patrick O'Malley), Heavenly Peace (Lee Key Shipyard), Irish Tartan (Laura Ferguson), Hornitos (Jacob Herman), Carolinian (Meghan Mandi), Beer Thirty (Louise Bayou), Sinister Silence (Kenzie Larkin), Major Guns (Laura Ferguson), and Irish Commander (Nicole Waters), completed the field of fourteen.

In the $450,000 G1 Steward's Cup Appaloosa Ladies Sprint for 3y/o+ fillies and mares, Laura Ferguson's County Kildare topped the field in 17.80. Poydras, owned by Louise Bayou, was second, followed by Kyasuriin Matsumoto's Bundle of Love. Rounding out the field of fourteen was Buchse (Alex Puderbaugh), Livin' Thing (Kenneth Prater), Firewater Indian (Kyasuriin Matsumoto), Too Much Fun (Nikki Everdeen), Follow Me Down (Jon Snyder), Dunitwithastranger (J K Rowling), Party Crasher (Louise Bayou), Rebel Red (Laura Ferguson), Quick Shot (Kyasuriin Matsumoto), Beer Leigh (Michael Looker), and All Five Horizons (Jon Snyder).

In the $400,000 G1 Steward's Cup Appaloosa Juvenile for 2y/o colts and geldings, Karie McBrian's Dynawings got the win in 20.02. In second place was Patrick O'Malley's Ten C C, followed by Kyasuriin Matsumoto's Determined. Rounding out the field of seven were Laser Focus (Rachel Sadler), Black Magic Man (Louise Bayou), Chip Onmy Shoulder (April Eddy), and Zebra Light (Karie McBrian).

Alex Puderbaugh's Color Me Lucky took home the $400,000 G1 Steward's Cup Appaloosa Juvenile Fillies for 2y/o fillies in 20.13. Stripping, owned by April Eddy, was second. Karie McBrian's Dynawar. Guns and Grits (Louise Bayou), Dyno Nico (Michael Looker), Olathe (Nikki Everdeen), Art of Betrayal (Jack Meyer), Loosomatic (Bob Probert), and After a Gambler (Bob Green) completed the field of nine.

Loree Ethell's Whit's Big Bang was the champion in the $450,000 G1 Steward's Cup Appaloosa Championship for 3y/os+, finishing in 20.02. Karie Mcbrian's Scareomatic was second. In third place was Dynamite Zebra, owned by Kenzie Larkin. Completing the field of fourteen were Dynotudinal (Bob Probert), Coco Jack (Joe Eddy), Wildcat Creek (J K Rowling), Natural Effort (Kyasuriin Matsumoto), Demoltion Device (Laura Ferguson), Tavacat (Lee Key Shipyard), Exploding Whale (Michael Looker), No Question (Laura Smith), Dynamite Color (Joe Eddy), Ninja Chicken (April Eddy), and Phfooot (Nikki Everdeen).

Karie McBrian's Special Dynamite won the $450,000 G1 Steward's Cup Appaloosa Distaff for 3y/o+ fillies and mares in 20.07. Rachel Sadler's Deal the Deck was second, followed by Ramey Furney's Sparkling Sands. Completing the small field of five were Caliente Big Bang (Glenn Larson) and Drifin Zinger (J K Rowling).

870 YARDS

In the $400,00 G1 Steward's Cup Appaloosa Futurity for 2y/o colts and geldings, Bob Green's Oh Snap took home the win in 47.12. Throw the Lamp, owned by Glenn Larson, was second. Jack Meyer's Deathmask Divine took third. Rounding out the field of nine were Tell the Lamp (Bob Probert), Duck Special (Bob Probert), Floppedtothelead (Bob Probert), Target Lost (Izzy Rafferty), Soula Backwater (J K Rowling), and Prairie Boon (Erica Olson).

Louise Bayou's Music Row led from start to finish in the $400,000 G1 Steward's Cup Appaloosa Debutante for 2y/o fillies, finishing in 47.05. Kenzie Larkin's Blanket Thief was second, followed by Inspiration Point, owned by Izzy Rafferty. Completing the field of eleven were Lose the Flaps (Patirck O'Malley), Sheneedsacocktail (J K Rowling), Embrace the Curse (Jack Meyer), Flipped Again (Bob Probert), Lost My Shoes (Alex Puderbaugh), Beyond Sunset (Lori Hamill), Flippedtothelead (Bob Probert), and Floptico (Bob Probert).

Sara Kendall's Ruling Time went wire to wire in the $450,000 G1 Steward's Cup Appaloosa Classic for 3y/os+. His time was 47.13. In second place was Turalyon, owned by Kenzie Larkin, followed by Clinton Jacinto's Genieinalamp. Flip Flop and Fly (Emma Lochran), Union Mill (J K Rowling), Iseeyourcrack (Bob Probert), Snappy Dancer (Lori Hamill), Flip It On (Kyasuriin Matsumoto), Raging Violence (Jack Meyer), Nemadji (Jacob Herman), Pop Music (Louise Bayou), Floptothelead (Bob Probert), All Star (Michael Looker), and Cult Fiction (Kenneth Prater) completed the field of fourteen.

In the $450,000 G1 Steward's Cup Appaloosa Matron for 3y/o+ fillies and mares, Lori Hamill's Freckles came from behind to win in 47.00. Kyasuriin Matsumoto's Fire and Flame was second. Peshtigo, owned by Jacob Herman, took third. Rounding out the field of twelve were Changed My Major (Bob Green), Scary Flip (Karie McBrian), Rattle Dee Snap (Ramey Furney), Global Estate (April Eddy), Nina Simona (Louise Bayou), Vapourized Tears (Jack Meyer), Fires of Evermoore (Jack Meyer), Pretty (Christophe Desjardin), and Chocolate Dew (Te Akau Downs).
