A repost of my old article about Triple Crown winner Tremendous who deserves to be remembered and respected. Tremendous was the second Sim Triple Crown winner in Year 8. A chestnut son of Hall Of Famer Event Of The Year, the only stallion to sire 2× TC winners, out of Pike Place Dancer a blue hen mare that produced 9 millionaires. Tremendous made his debut in Week 1 of his 2yo year in a maiden 2yo over 4 ½ furlongs with a win. He then stepped up at his next start in a 2yo Allowance over 7 furlongs and won again. Tremendous next start was in the Grade 2 Futurity Stakes over 1 mile and won again. His final start in his 2yo season was the Stewards Cup Juvenile over 1 1/16 mile where he received his first defeat when finishing third.

Tremendous started his 3yo season in the Grade 2 Lone Star Derby over 1 1/16 miles in week 3 where he finished second he then stepped out in the Arkansas Derby 2 weeks later where he finished 2nd again. The Louisville Derby was a week later.

The Year 8 Louisville Derby over 1 ¼ miles was the first Derby with a full field of 20 Tremendous won defeating his stablemate Symbol. A week later in the Baltimore Crown over 1 3/16 miles Tremendous won defeating Symbol again.

In Week 6 Tremendous stepped out to race for the fourth week in a row in the Long Island Classic the little horse of only 15.2 hands showed he was all heart when winning and becoming the second Sim Triple Crown winner.

Tremendous had a deserved 3 week break before returning to race in the Grade 2 California Cup Classic over 1 1/8 miles against older horses which he won. He had his final start of the year against older horses in the Stewards Cup Classic where he ran 2nd to Serena Success, a full brother to fellow Triple Crown winner Priceless Forever, and was named Horse Of The Year.

Tremendous returned as a 4yo in week 4 in the Grade 1 Desert World Cup over 1 ¼ miles where he finished 2nd. Two weeks later he won the Grade One Surburban Handicap over 1 ¼ miles and 4 weeks later the Grade One Woodward Handicap over 1 1/8 miles.

Two weeks later Tremendous made his final start in the Stewards Cup Classic where he finished 4th, to Five Circles, his only finish out of the placings. Tremendous finished with a record of 9 wins, 4 seconds, 1 third & 1 fourth from 15 starts, he had 5× Grade One wins, and career earnings of over 6 million dollars.

Tremendous was a excellent sire, though producing just 94 foals, he had 66 winners for (71%) and of those 66 winners 22 of them were stakes winners (23%). He was the sire of 10 millionaires. The bloodline of Tremendous is still around today and has recently been successful through the dam line of Year 52 Baltimore Crown winner Story Unchanged. His progeny include:
