W4 Turf G1 Summary

A (hopefully) weekly round up of Grade One turf races!
A summary of Week 4 in the wonderful land of turf:

In Asia 5yo mare Ivermectined (Ivor) beat the boys in the Japanese Spring Marathon over 2 miles on a firm track. She is a homebred for Stephen Saratoga out of 4x G1 winner Classiest. It was her second G1 win after her Nile Stakes win against her own gender last year.

In Asia the Hong Kong Silver Cup was held on a soft course over a mile and a quarter and won by The Womble (The Tearjerker) my own homebred. It was his eighth career win and fourth Grade One, he will retire to stud at the end of this year.

In Europe 4yo filly Dee Es See Haitch (Impacts) was a easy winner of the Sea Of Class Memorial over a mile and a quarter. She is a homebred for Carole Hanson out of dual surface winning Contrail mare. It was her sixth G1 win and her eighth win overall from 12 starts.

In Europe the French 2000 Guineas for 3yos over a mile was won by Jews In Space (Jardins Airlie) by a massive four lengths. It is the second G1 win for the homebred of Danny Derby and he now has a record of 6 wins from seven races.

In Europe the 3yo fillies raced in the French 1000 Guineas which was won by Torre Ciega (Racing Heartbeat) a homebred for Peter Quill. It was her second G1 win after taking out the London Debutante as a 2yo.

In North America 5yo horse Fear The Devil (Fearless Spirit) won the Monaachi Mile on a soft course to get his first G1 win. The Darcy McBride homebred has put together four wins in a row for a total of nine wins from 17 starts.

In South Africa 4yo colt Quintilla (Impacts) won the mile and a quarter Spring Classic by a margin of one and a half lengths. It was the first G1 win for the Danny Derby homebred.

In Australia the 3yos competed in the Brisbane Derby over a mile and a quarter on a firm course. Stewards Cup Bunbury winner Empyreal (Mishriff) won for trainer David Howard. The Steward bred colt is a half brother to Kylo Ren.

Now to the big Saudi Arabia races. 4yo filly Kitty (Beau) beat the boys in the Saudi Turf Mile by a comfortable 3 lengths. It was the fifth G1 win for the Rochelle Bos homebred who is a full sister to Still Into You who stands at stud.

The 2 mile Saudi Turf Marathon was won by Pademus (Be Right There) for the second year in a row. The Kaine Saracen homebred, who runs in every big turf route race, is a winner of 11 of 24 starts and has never finished worse than fifth.

The Saudi Turf Sprint ended in a photofinish that went the way of Destiny Is All (Magnificent Jeblar) a 6yo horse bred and raced by Andrew Chillin. A previous winner of the Stewards Cup and Chimborazo, he is now 12 wins from 28 races.

Finally the Saudi Turf Cup over a mile and a quarter was won by Tick Tick Boom (Brilliance) for the third time. He is a homebred for Julin Sara out of a mare she brought from Alexandra Jaysman and he has now earned over $7 million. He will retire to stud this year.
