W6 Turf G1 Summary

A review of W6 G1 races in the awesome world of turf!

In Hong Kong the Racecourse Derby was run over a mile and a quarter for 4yos. The winner was Long Goodbyes (First Class) a Cleo Patra bred for Lucas Davenport. It was his third G1 win and eighth win overall for the half brother to Wildness.

In Europe the English Two Thousand Guineas for 3yos over a mile was won by Hold My Crown (Modern Games) a $7 Million Steward bred for Xander Zone. He was the Stewards Cup Turf Juvenile winner last season and has never finished worse than second in eight starts.

The 3yo fillies did battle in their equivalent English One Thousand Guineas where Rawsthorne (Pinatubo) won by a neck from Torre Ciega. The Stewards Cup winner is now 6 wins from 8 starts for Tammy Stawicki out of her G1 winning mare Kassa.

The German Oaks was run for 3yo fillies over 11 furlongs where Sea The Moon (Moon On Fire) was a 5 length winner. She is trained by Carole Hanson and bred by Abby Brooks. She takes her record to five wins from six starts.

Heaven Beside You (Amor De Verano) beat the boys in the German Derby over a mile and a half. She is a $5 million Steward bred for Lisa Bennert who is now six wins from seven starts including last years Stewards Cup Bunburette.

In South Africa the 3yos did battle in the South African Derby over a mile and a quarter on a soft track. Steward bred colt Road To Zion (Brilliance) got his first G1 win for trainer Mr Lord Rich. He has a companion cat named Lightning.

The South African Sprint Championship was run over 5 furlongs on a soft track. Nigerian Prince (Face The Wind) was the winner for Diane Townsend. It was his eleventh win at his seventeenth start and he will retire to stud at the end of this year.

To the Middle East 4yo filly Lord’s Champion (Dirk Provin) beat the boys in the Desert Turf Sprint over 6 furlongs. A homebred for Mr Lord Rich she has now taken her record to 13 wins from 16 starts including many of the biggest races in the Sim.

In the Dubai Millennium Mile 5yo gelding Spanish Sahara (Backstreet Boy) was the winner for Rebecca Rose Hepburn. He takes his record to 14 wins from 20 starts and has a companion goat named Foals.

The Desert Duty Free was run over 9 furlongs where Tick Tick Boom went down by a head to Legalization (Obsidian Fury) a homebred for Ryan Whitehead. It was the second G1 win for the half brother to Dramatisation and Improvisational.

5yo mare Signaling (Improvisational) beat the boys in the Desert Turf Classic over a mile and a half. The Eric Nalbone homebred takes her record to 15 wins from 18 starts including two Stewards Cups and a Melbourne Trophy.

In Kentucky the Louisville Bunburette for 3yo fillies was run over 9 furlongs and won by Tearless Rf (Antton) for trainer Laura Ferguson and bred by Tammy Fox. It was her first G1 win and her record is now four wins from six starts.

In the Louisville Bunbury 3yo colt Eleven Eleven (Sottsass) won over a mile and a quarter. It was the first G1 win for the Jon Xett homebred out of his dual G1 winner Editorial. He has a companion cat named Two Mile.
