Week 1 Trotter Stakes Recap

Welcome to the Week 1 Trotter stakes recap. A total of 22 Trotter stakes went off to start Year 67, with excitement high to see if success from last season would carry over to this year. Here is how it went down.

WEEK 1 DAY 3 – Europe

Tom Lin's Tls Bold Pants took home the $75,000 1e Troe Prijs Heuvelkouter in 1:51.17, followed by Jurgen Ver's Jvs Manian and Jvs Artistic Peak, also owned by Jurgen Ver. The race was restricted to 3 year old Belgium-breds.

The $400,000 G1 Prix d'Waffle for 4 year olds and up went to Kent Saunders' Jim Brown in 1:50.64. John Sloan's Fire Hazard Warning took second, followed by Kent Saunders' Jim Takter.

In the $50,000 Just Have Fun Stakes for 4 year old and up fillies and mares, Lucas Davenport's Be Queen Cartier took home top prize in 1:51.18. Cesar Raez's Fuenlabrada took second and Kent Saunders' Red Dawn was third.

Jurgen Ver's Jvs Bounty Splash won the $50,000 Cheerful Prize Stakes for 3 year old colts and geldings in 1:51.18, followed by John Sloan's On Gilligans Island and Kent Saunders' Ancestral Prince.

WEEK 1 DAY 3 – North America

Masaya Stable's Brigitta Masaya got the victory in the $75,000 Canadien Stk for CAN-bred 3 year old fillies in 1:51.41. Masaya Stable's Eva Masaya finished second in the match race.

Dylan Price's The Devious Prince won the $50,000 Deja Entendu Stakes for 4 year old colts and geldings in 1:50.82. In second place was Cesar Raez's Johnny. Brad Fabman's Stale Bone took third.

In the $50,000 Fired Contractor Stakes for 4 year old fillies, John Sloan's Darn Pig Race took home the victory in 1:51.11. Hope Bentley's Julia Darlin was second and Cesar Raez's Jordyn was third.

Laura Ferguson's Bonnycastle took home the $50,000 Lamplighters Stakes for 3 year old fillies in 1:51.23. In second place was Hope Bentley's Just My Honey and in third was Masaya Stable's Belle Masaya.

Tom Lin's Tls Magnanimous won the $50,000 Watchtower Stakes for 3 year old colts and geldings in 1:51.08. Tamara Estes' Spit Ball was second. Terry Barnes' Super Trick took third.

In the $100,000 Stk Pa for 6 year old and up colts and geldings, restricted to PA-breds, Masaya Stable's Jvs Fourmi Chenu got the walkover win in 1:52.04.

Terry Barnes' Bourbon Don won the $50,000 Hilltopper Senior Gp Trot for 6 year old and up game point sired geldings in 1:51.86. Jack Ryder's Wasting a Gift was second and Terry Barnes' Tls Devious Baron was third.

Masaya Stable's Summerset Masaya got the victory in the $50,000 Du Quoin Stakes for 4 year old and up colts and geldings, finishing in 1:51.17. Kent Saunders' Fair Prospect took second. Cesar Raez's Feroz was third.

In the $50,000 Roquepine Stakes for 4 year old and up fillies and mares, Masaya Stable's Winnipeg Masaya took home the win in 1:51.08. Louise Bayou's Golden Band was second and Shannon Hunt's Aristocrat was third.

Tom Lin's Tls Just Smirk won the $50,000 Feel Threatened Stakes for 3 year old fillies in 1:51.63. In second place was Cesar Raez's Luassia W and in third was John Lieblang's Fuzzy Criteria.

Shannon Hunt's Quel Dommage took home the victory in the $50,000 Fighting Fury Stakes for 3 year old colts and geldings in 1:51.41. Hope Bentley's Hb Times Up took second and Laura Ferguson's Devon's Raid took third.

WEEK 1 DAY 6

In the $50,000 Whatsit Stakes for 3 year old fillies, Masaya Stable's No Fire Bree won in 1:51.68. Lucas Davenport's Looney Chrome was second and Hope Bentley's Hbs Cleopatra was third.

Polk Buffalo's Blop Blip won the $50,000 Torrid Trot Stakes for 4 year old and up colts and geldings in 1:51.05. Kent Saunders' Bayou Blaze crossed the line in second. Paula Danna's Tls Maximum Power was third.

Arthur Cutler's Win Just Flat Win took home victory in the $50,000 Mares' Mayhem Stakes for 4 year old and up fillies and mares in 1:50.94. In second place was Laura Ferguson's Jvs Bella Bellini. John Sloan's Mad Maggie took third.

John Lieblang's Castle Discord won the $50,000 Reserves Stakes for 3 year old fillies in 1:51.27. Shannon Hunt's Ghost Tour was second and Eric Deco's Exposure was third.

In the $50,000 Diamonds Shared Stakes for 3 year old colts and geldings, John Sloan's Kangaroo Camper crossed the line first in 1:51.23. Jurgen Ver's Jvs Spirited Pearl was second and Cesar Raez's Aguadito took third.

Ben Roberts' Paris Bourbon won the $75,000 Paris Stakes for 3 year old game point sired colts and geldings in 1:51.68. Arthur Cutler's King of Prayers was second and Shannon Hunt's Miruvor was third.
