Villain Accomplishes the Unthinkable

Original article written by The Steward posted 16 years 0 weeks ago

Although SIMMY Champion Sprinter Villain has already surpassed expectations in the breeding shed, he accomplished the unthinkable on Friday night when his offspring won all three legs of the Two Year Old Sprint Championship Trials.

The sire of 76.1% winners from foals of racing age, Villain leads the way as a young sprinting stallion. In the shed for a year longer than his rivals Comet, Pincay, and Saturn, Villain had the jump on them in number of mares and the other two have slipped slightly below the radar.

The first Trial race was won by Snake, a colt bred by Mallory Claire, Villain's trainer. Snake races for Amy Schmidt and is undefeated in four starts this year. Snake was the only son of Villain in the race.

The second Trial race was taken by Steal It, an expensive auction purchase by Steve Martinelli. Steal It is now 5 for 5. He was also the only offspring of Villain in the race.

The final Trial race went to Light the Night, a mild longshot who surprised several by winning his fourth race in five starts. Villain had one other starter in the race, Maybnowuwilllisten, who finished fifth and last.

With a crop of 23 on the way, look out for more speedy Villains, coming to a sprint race near you.
